We replace your teeth with permanent replacements that feel, look and work just like ordinary healthy teeth
If you are missing all of your teeth or most of your teeth, full mouth implants can provide better support for dental prosthetics than relying on remaining natural teeth alone. Additionally, if you have extensive tooth decay or periodontal disease, it may be necessary to remove some of your remaining teeth before getting implants. In this case, getting whole mouth implants can help to preserve your jawbone and prevent further tooth loss.
Yes, there are other options for tooth replacement, such as dentures or bridges. However, these options may not be as effective or long-lasting as implants.
Dentures may need to be replaced frequently and can slip or click when you talk or eat. Bridges rely on neighboring teeth for support and can eventually lead to further tooth loss.
In comparison, implants are a long-term solution that can help you maintain your natural smile for many years to come.
The process of getting full mouth implants is generally very straightforward. First, your dentist will take impressions of your teeth in order to create custom-made implants. Next, the implants will be placed into your jawbone and allowed to heal for a few months. Finally, once the implants have healed, you will return to the dentist to have your new teeth placed.
Dental implants are a great way to improve your smile and oral health for many reasons. Dental Implant Center of Louisiana can work with you to customize a treatment plan that meets your needs and goals.
Some of the advantages of getting dental implants include:
- eating and speaking more easily;
- improved appearance and self-esteem;
- improved oral health; and
- they are a long-term solution to tooth loss.
The process of getting dental implants usually takes several months and requires multiple surgical procedures. In most cases, it takes three steps to get dental implants:
1. The first step is to have a consultation with your dentist to see if you are a good candidate for dental implants. During this consultation, your dentist will take X-rays and impressions of your teeth to assess the state of your jawbone and confirm that you have enough bone to support the implant.
2. The next step is the surgical procedure to place the dental implants. This surgery is usually done under local anesthesia and sedation, and it involves making a small incision in the gums to access the jawbone. Once the implant is in place, the gums are sutured closed.
3. The final step is to wait for the implant to heal and fuse with the jawbone. This process, called osseointegration, can take several months. Some patients can have everything done very quickly. Once the implant has healed, you will return to your dentist to have an artificial tooth (crown) placed on top of the implant.
Dental implants are a safe and effective way to replace missing teeth. However, the procedure does require surgery and it can be costly. Be sure to discuss all of your options with your dentist before making a decision.
